Heartburn Remedies You Can Create at Home

Regardless of the name, heartburn is not associated with cardiac diseases. But these diseases occur around the same area. The other name for heartburn is pyrosis, which is characterized by a painful burning sensation in the chest area. Some pregnant women experience this disorder because of the change in stomach position during pregnancy.

What causes heartburn? When acid regurgitates from the stomach region, a burning sensation is felt. The pain could spread up until the breastbone and the jaw regions. Most of the time, the pain can be felt in the jawline and the facial regions. Heartburn may be mistaken as an asthma attack. Acid reflux is something that should be taken seriously. Recurring incidence of acid reflux can be a symptom of a much more serious disease.

Remedies for heartburn are many and varied. These medicines may be vended in convenience stores, and even restaurants. Drug companies outdo each other when it comes to creating heartburn medication. However, some of the most effective remedies for heartburn can be found at home.

Baking Soda as an Instant Cure

If you're in a rush, just dissolve baking soda in water to create a mixture that can put out the flames in your esophagus. Baking soda is multi-purpose so make sure you always have a bag of this around the house. The effective ratio for most people is one teaspoon of baking soda and one cup of water. Baking soda will quickly neutralize the acid, giving instant relief.

Baking soda is effective, but may cause excessive burping. While you can relieve the pressure inside your stomach, you will risk regurgitating all its contents.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Organic apple cider vinegar is also a neighbor's homemade remedy for heartburn. Honey is generally not needed but it adds flavor. Apple cider, or baking soda, may be too difficult to swallow for some people, and honey makes these components easier to gulp down. Get a cup of water and mix in it two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. Add honey for flavor.

You should stay away from the things that cause heartburn if you are susceptible. Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages, eating spicy food and consuming caffeinated products.
