Save on Your Insurance With a Health Savings Account Plan

As the cost of health insurance and medical care continue to rise, more and more people are looking for cheaper alternatives such as Health Savings Account plans (HSAs), to help pay the bills. What are they and where can you find a cheapt HSA? Read on ...

What is a Health Savings Account plan?

A Health Savings Account allows you to set aside money to pay for current and future health expenses. The money you put into your HSA is tax-free, although you have to pay a penalty if you withdraw it for non-medical expenses. You can think of an HSA as a "medical IRA." When you have a medical expense, you just pay for it with a check or debit card that automatically pulls money from the plan. And money that you are not using can be earning interest for future use.

How do I enroll in an HSA?

In order to enroll in an HSA, you must first set up a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). An HDHP is an inexpensive "catastrophic" health insurance plan. This type of plan costs less than a traditional insurance plan, freeing up funds to put into the tax-deductible HSA.

An HDHP typically pays nothing for the first several thousand dollars of health expenses you have each year. You pay those expenses out of your Health Savings Account. Once you meet the deductible, the HDHP begins to pay.

What New Home Owners Need to Know About Term Life Insurance

Buying term life insurance for your family is a great gift that you can offer them by allowing them to continue to live in your beautiful new home, even if you should happen to pass away unexpectedly before the mortgage is paid off.

Buying a home for your family can be an extremely tedious, stressful and lengthy process. Your emotions will run the full spectrum from fear and anxiety to total elation, and you will probably find yourself wondering if it’s the right decision, or if you really can afford it. You’ll probably sit in anticipation, waiting for problems, cancellations, but then escrow will finally close and you find yourself relieved beyond words because you finally are the proud owner of your own home. In these joyous moments, it is difficult to think about the potential of a tragedy, but thinking about term life insurance is an unfortunate but necessary part of every family's financial planning plan.

Term Life Insurance is the Best Protection

Term life insurance policies are straight forward in nature. You buy a specific face value of insurance with a certain time period of coverage. There are several factors that contribute to the face value of your term life insurance quote. The traditional rule of thumb for purchasing term life insurance is usually to aim for between five and ten times whatever your annual salary is, but your debt and yearly expenses should also come into play. Length of time that your term life insurance rate is set for will also differ. This is typically based on the age of your children, and how much income you anticipate to have once they are grown and self-sufficient. Take both the loan amount and the time frame into consideration when choosing a term life insurance policy if you want to best protect your family should you pass away unexpectedly before they can take care of themselves.

When it comes to buying term life insurance for new homeowners, the most important consideration is whether or not your life insurance payout will be enough to pay off your mortgage as well as to support your family until they can support themselves. Even if your spouse decides to take on the monthly mortgage payments for tax purposes, will the insurance benefit offered to him or her be enough to sustain them completely for the rest of the time on the home loan?

3 Key Term Life Insurance Tips

1) All term life insurance policies are developed to be the most cost effective but you should still shop around because there are deals out there.

2) Shop around and obtain as many term life insurance quotes as you can to ensure that you are getting the best price and the best coverage to protect your family in the event of your death. You may find the exact same coverage in several different carriers, but may be cheaper in some states and much more expensive in others.

3) Make sure you are getting the right kind of term life insurance. Because there are three different forms and each is a little different and offers a different level of benefits at different monthly rates.

Why Do Most People Put Off Life Insurance?

One of the many uncertainties in this world concerns our health. We never actually now how the cards will fall. Although we all expect to live long and healthy lives, fate can deal us a different hand. This is why we have to prepare ourselves and those we leave behind. Finding the right life insurance company is no simple task. Whether we want to pay a monthly fee for the mere possibility of a disability or accident involving our health, we hardly have a choice. Life is just too unpredictable.

In my younger years, I really had no tolerance for life insurance in my life. I did not care much for it. Heck, I really could not even stand the mention of it. My attitude was, I had plenty of time to left and plenty of things to do before I start worrying about that sort of thing. While the near notion of life insurance have most of us feeling this way, we should really be preparing ourselves at least. A couple of years later, I decided to take out a life insurance policy through a mutual friend of my wife and I. He had used them before and had highly recommended their policy. Truth is, a big factor into finally making the decision to get a life insurance policy were my children. It is never a bad thing to plan ahead for the future when one have reached the point of having a family of their own. Having the plan helps ease my mind about my family having to deal with financial binds in the event of an untimely act of some sort.

If you've never considered life insurance, and you already have a family of your own, I would certainly recommend that you do some browsing around. Check with friends and see what life insurance company suited them. Disability is also a factor to consider. If you are disabled and no longer able to work, what will you do? Well, if you stipulate this type of insurance with your company, you can receive a disability policy. We hate to think that this could happen, but we truly never know.

A good place to begin your search for a life insurance company is the Internet. You can find a variety of plans and quotes that should best fit your concerns and income.
